Nederland Housing Needs Assessment
Housing affordability and attainability is a widespread issue communities throughout Colorado and the Nation are experiencing. Throughout 2023 the Town of Nederland evaluated housing cost and needs to develop an understanding of how best to guide affordable housing policy and investments to best support the needs of the Nederland community. Final Housing Needs Assessment Documentation
The project team, along with Town Staff, Planning Commission and the Board of Trustees worked through final strategy and policy identification in late 2023. In December 2023, after thorough discussion and consideration, adopted a set of five ordinances directing policy changes within Chapter 16 of the Nederland Municipal Code to support an increase in affordable and attainable housing development in the Town. These ordinances were officially codified in January 2024. The policy updates pertain to the following sections of Chapter 16:
- Section 16-31. District Categories
- Section 16-32. Use Groups
- Section 16-33. Yard and Bulk
- Section 16-98. Accessory Dwelling Units
- Section 16-235. Residential Development Administrative Variance
